Electric Light Orchestra - OLE ELO - First issued 1976 on United Artists Records label in the USA

Due to the size of the USA and various pressing plants around the USA,  it is nearly impossible to collect and show all the different label variations. So instead, listed below are the main found issues of ELO's "OLE ELO" Compilation album issues on LP & CD in the USA.

Originally a promo-only release, received a commercial release upon UA's realization that ELO fans were selling it "underground".

This LP features the long versions of ROB and Kuiama.

Mono design except for the front sleeve that had coloured album sleeves.

The first issue credits Roy Wood for production on track A1 on the LP label and on the top on the rear back cover.

Note the wording/description text under "Strange Magic" on the rear of the sleeve for a forth coming single.  (Being the same as the Promo issue above.)

A second version was Issued in November 1976 with the same cat.no. UA-LA-630-G, with edited versions of ROB and Kuiama, but the LP label listed the (wrong) full length track times.

The production credit relating to track A1 for Roy Wood was removed form the side 1 LP label and from the top of the rear sleeve.

Plus it had new and different info about "Strange Magic" (which by then was a hit single).

"Nice Price" CD issue in 1987 by Jet/CBS records, with lyric booklet.

Finally the track times for ROB & Kuiama are printed correctly !

All CD’s in the USA were released in long boxes, until in 1991 when the US record industry turned against it. Because of ecological reasons & decreasing the costs for a CD.

There are two versions with different rear cover bard codes:

Barcode: 0 7464-35528-2

Barcode  8 86972 48722 9

  • First 1987 issue.

  • There is a later issue from around 1990 - 1994 that has the DIDP code printed on the CD below the Cat. No. ZK 35528

  • Third issue from around  1994 that has a different track layout on the disc, plus adds "TM" under the Jet Logo and has the DIDP code printed on the CD below the Cat. No. ZK 35528
